The Union of Humanities and History Clubs (UHHC) Document No. 1 (Draft)
I. Mission and Purpose
The mission of the Union of Humanities and History Clubs (UHHC) is to discover, explore, and promote the beauty of the humanities. Any school club or individual with an interest in the humanities—including but not limited to philosophy, history, literature, arts, music, and religious studies—is welcome to join.
The UHHC seeks to establish an equal, free, and open platform for exchanging ideas in the humanities. It aims to provide opportunities for the publication of scholarly work (in the form of articles, videos, etc.), periodic humanities writing competitions, academic discussions, cross-regional cultural exchanges, and the organization of offline humanities-related activities.
The foundation of the UHHC rests on two key activities: the publication of written works from affiliated clubs and an annual humanities writing competition with an entry acceptance rate of 30%. Those whose submissions are accepted will receive an official certificate by mail.
II. Organizational Structure
Any founding members who have made significant contributions to the UHHC during its initial phase shall be recognized as Co-founder. Co-founders are invited by the Founder and, for the time being, the number of non-senior high school Co-funders shall not exceed nine.
1. The UHHC Committee
A managing body known as the UHHC Committee shall be established. Committee members (Committee Senate Members) shall consist of club presidents from affiliated organizations, individual representatives of UHHC, and founding members. The committee will vote on major decisions democratically. Any individual or club may propose motions for discussion and vote, with a simple majority required for trial implementation. Amendments to this document require a two-thirds majority.
In cases where a club undergoes leadership transition, the committee membership shall change accordingly. If a voting matter directly concerns a specific club, the president of that club shall abstain to ensure fair representation.
The committee shall also serve as the panel of judges for the UHHC humanities writing competition. Members with outstanding literary appraisal skills may volunteer to participate in the review process and receive appropriate compensation. To maintain impartiality, a club’s submission may not be reviewed by a judge affiliated with the same club.
2. UHHC Operations Office
The UHHC Operations Office is responsible for managing publications on the UHHC’s website, public accounts, and video platforms. This division is also tasked with expanding and diversifying UHHC’s online presence. It may submit proposals to the committee for enhancing the UHHC’s outreach. The division will be jointly overseen by the Initiator and Co-initiators with expertise in website development and media management.
III. Activities and Initiatives
The UHHC currently plans to organize the following activities. We strongly support and encourage members to provide valuable suggestions and insights for further development.
1. Club Research Publications
Member clubs specializing in humanities and history are invited to submit research findings and activity summaries to the Operations Division. These will be published under the club’s name across all UHHC media platforms and archived under the “Union Perspectives” section on the official website.
2. Individual Research Publications
Submissions may cover any humanities-related or interdisciplinary topics of interest to members. Upon completion, individuals should submit their work to the Operations Division, which will forward it to the UHHC Committee for evaluation. The top 30% of submissions will be recognized as Award-Winning Articles, and authors will receive a customized certificate by mail. Accepted individual works will be featured in the “Independent Insights” section of the website.
3. Cross-Regional Humanities Exchanges, History Debates, and Other Events
These activities may be conducted either online or offline, depending on specific circumstances and logistical considerations.
